After beating Colorado State in Fort Collins, CO Saturday, the TCU Horned Frogs have rejoined the USA Today Top 25 at number 24. The Frogs get a chance to improve their ranking as they host the 8th ranked BYU Cougars Thursday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort worth, TX. The Cougars are undefeated and looking for a shot at a BCS Bowl and its big payday if they go undefeated on the year. The last time two ranked teams played in Fort Worth at Amon G. Carter Stadium was September 16, 2006 when the Horned Frogs beat Texas Tech 12-3. BYU has the nation’s longest winning streak at 16 games.

The game will feature one of the country’s best offense versus the country’s best defense. TCU leads the nation in run defense, total defense and sacks. BYU has one of the best offenses in the country led by Junior quarterback Max Hall who is the nephew of former Dallas Cowboy quarterback Danny White. The Cougars average 37.8 points per game, 320.5 yards passing per game and 457.2 total yards per game.

Awards

Junior Linebacker Daryl Washington was named MWC Defensive Player of the Week for his effort against Colorado State. Washington hit the trifecta with a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception for the Frogs. Redshirt Freshman Punter Anston Kelton was named MWC Special Teams Player of the Week. Against Colorado State, Kelton placed four punts inside the 20 yard line including three inside the 10 helping pin the Rams deep in their own territory.

Frogbits

“wild frog.” According TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson, the Frogs plan on using the “wild frog” more this year. Asked about the use of the package during the Coach Patterson Radio Show from the Railhead Smokehouse in Fort Worth, Patterson said that the weather conditions kept the Frogs from using the “wild frog” during the Colorado State game as it was wet and cold. The “wild frog” places TCU receiver Jeremy Kerley in the shotgun at the quarterback position where he runs a “zone read” play. TCU ran the package during the fourth quarter of the San Diego State game.

Mr. Touchdown. Joseph Turner leads the Mountain West Conference in rushing touchdowns with nine. Every time the Frogs get in the red zone, it is a good bet that Turner gets the call.

Big Play Shae. Senior Tight End Shae Reagan leads the team in yards per catch at 13.4 in 2008. For his career, he has 17.6 yards per catch.

All Purpose. Jeremy Kerley leads the team with 498 all purpose yards. Kerley has racked up yards as a receiver, a punt returner, a running back and as a quarterback.

Pink Out. TCU Athletics through Frogs for the Cure is supporting the fight against breast cancer and the Susan G. Komen For the Cure by asking fans to wear pink Frog merchandise which can be purchased at GoFrogs.com or the TCU Bookstore. Further, TCU will donate $5 per ticket ordered online at GoFrogs.com to the Susan G. Komen Tarrant for the Cure. TCU will honor survivors with a special tailgate party and along with other special events promoting awareness.

Media. The TCU game will be televised live at 7:00 p.m. on Versus TV and broadcast live on the TCU/ISP Radio Network featuring Brian Estridge and John Denton.
