Thursday night (Oct. 16) marks the 4th annual Frogs for the Cure football game at Texas Christian University, with the kickoff (pitting TCU against the Brigham Young University Cougars) scheduled for 7 p.m.
The goal (er, endzone) would be to "tackle" breast cancer by raising visibility - not to mention funds - for the game's beneficiary: Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Fans planning to attend the game are encouraged to wear their TCU Frogs for the Cure t-shirts, a portion of the sales of which go directly to benefit the Tarrant County affiliate of the Komen foundation. A portion of the ticket sales will also go to the Komen crew.
In addition to online, you can buy shirts at the TCU bookstore - and at the stadium on the day of the game.
Says Ann Louden, chair of the Frogs for the Cure committee and TCU Chancellor’s associate for external relations: “We are very pleased that this year’s Frogs for the Cure game matches TCU against BYU in front of an anticipated crowd of 35,000. Such a large venue during October as breast cancer awareness month helps get the word out that early detection saves lives. A diagnosis of breast cancer used to be a death sentence. Now there is hope, not only for a cure, but also for the chance to prevent our children from having to deal with such a difficult disease."
Over the past three years, TCU has raised more than $40,000 for the Komen foundation, supporting their efforts in research, education and social services.
