DALLAS After 13 years, it appears that Dallas-area indie rockers The Feds are disbanding. The band posted this announcement on their MySpace page earlier:
"After 13 years The Feds are disbanding. We would first like to thank our families, friends, and fans for their unwavering support.
Jason and I (Matt Slider) started The Feds in 1995 while we were in high school. If anyone would've told me that the band would last this long, I would have assumed we were rich and famous and that Metallica was opening for US. But Metallica never did open for us and the closest I got to fortune and fame was being able to pay rent, and Scott Weiland telling me to fuck off.
All joking aside, we've had many successes in our career and I'm thankful for the time I've spent following my heart. I'm thankful for all the people I've met because of this band and so much of myself is defined by the years we've spent working and creating music together.
As for the near future…we'll be playing the remaining shows we have scheduled plus a final show. I'm not sure when or where the last show will be but you know it'll be badass!
Please feel free to share your memories and pictures on our myspace. We would also love to hear your ideas for our final set list.
So thanks again to all of you! We're so grateful for the time we've had making music for you and we can't wait to ROCK one more time."
The band has two shows left in the DFW area, this weekend at Firewater, and one month from now at Dan's Silverleaf. A final show in Tulsa has been rumored to be in the works.

major bummer. great hard-working band. can't believe they've been together for 13 years - doesn't seem that long
