McKinney ISD band students competing in Region 25 UIL competition
The Region 25 UIL Marching Contest will be held this Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Clark Stadium in Plano. Clark Stadium is located just west of I-75 on Spring Creek Pkwy at Alma.
About 500 McKinney ISD high school band students will be competing that night, which is almost 10% of our high school population. This event is truly amazing and a testament of what all these dedicated young musicians and their talented directors have created since August. It is also an opportunity to see other programs in our area and the great things they are doing.
We will all be cheering on all three of our high school bands as they compete against some of the best bands in the state. However, this is a 5A state qualifying year, so we will all be rooting for the McKinney Boyd High band to qualify to advance to Area competition, which will take place next Saturday, Oct. 25, in H.E.B. From there four bands will be chosen to participate in the 5A State Marching Competition, which will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in San Antonio in the Alamo Dome.
