The Grape restaurant in Dallas to host wine dinner on Oct. 26 with one-of-a-kind wine decanters
DALLAS The Grape chef/owner Brian C. Luscher and wife Courtney wrap up 'Texas Wine Month' with a Texas Hill Country-inspired 3-course wine dinner Sunday, October 26 with special guest Susan Auler of Fall Creek Vineyards. To complement Fall Creek's hand-selected wines, Chef Luscher will pair some 'German inspired Hill Country cuisine.'
Established in 1975 by Texas businessman/rancher, Ed Auler and his wife, Susan, Fall Creek Vineyards are located 80 miles northwest of Austin in the Texas Hill Country where the sandy loam soil, warm days, and cool breezes off Lake Buchanan provide an excellent microclimate for growing premium wine grapes.
The inspiration for the winery came in 1973 when the Aulers, on a trip to France, noted remarkable similarities in the soil, terrain and microclimate of parts of the French wine country and their own ranch. Today, Fall Creek is a living testament to the Aulers' early vision. After some brief experiments with French-American hybrid grape varieties, the winery has planted Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Semillon, Johannesburg Riesling, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Viognier and Malbec.
Additionally a selection of one-of-a-kind wine decanters by renowned glass-blower David Gappa of Vetro Art Glass in Grapevine will be on display. The exposition of hand blown glass and hand carved stone were designed to enhance the experience of tasting great wines. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the decanters will benefit the Houston Food Bank for victims of Hurricane Ike.
Reservations are recommended for this special event. Cost is $50 per person exclusive of tax, gratuity, and other beverages. $5 from each dinner will also benefit the Houston Food Bank. The Grape Restaurant hosts a wine dinner the last Sunday of every month. Located at 2808 Greenville Avenue, The Grape is open for dinner nightly at 5:30pm and Sunday Brunch. For reservations and more information visit the website at www.thegraperestaurant.com, or call 214-828-1981.
Complimentary valet parking always provided.
