New theater companies are popping up all over the metroplex this year, as I had mentioned last week with the new Upstart Productions. Sundown Collaborative Theatre had its debut in March of this year with Conversations About Love and performed Fool For Love this summer. Now, they are getting ready for their next production, which is quite a bold one: Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange.
This is the stage play of Burgess' infamous cult novel and film of the same name. A Clockwork Orange is the story of Alex and his teenage gang, "The Droogs", their life of rape and murder, and "ultraviolence", and the moral dilemma that arises when Alex is brainwashed into good-citizenship. The book contains many words in a slang dialect which Burgess invented for the book, called Nadsat. You may even remember a few years back, the formerly known Quad C Theatre and UTD performed a highly acclaimed joint-production of this book.
Tickets for the show are only $8, and plus, there will be a special midnight showing on October 30.

These guys/women really try to push the edges. Their recent production of reinterpreted Grimm's Fairy Tales was very interesting. Worth a visit up to Denton, for sure. They are planning on doing The Eight Reindeer monologues this year as well.
