As part of Addison’s WorldFest, the Turkish American Association of North Texas (TURANT) presents TurkFest on October 25, 2008 in Addison Circle Park from 12 noon until 10 pm. Tickets are $5 (4 years and older). TurkFest is a special feature of WorldFest, a global celebration hosted by the Town of Addison in partnership with the DFW International Community Alliance.

Direct from Turkey, pop stars Betul Demir and Ahmet Coskun will perform for the first time in North Texas, along with an award-winning Turkish folk dance ensemble. Fortune-readings and nargile hookas are available in the Turkish Coffee House, and in the Turkish Bazaar one can purchase sterling silver jewelry, handcrafted arts and crafts, carpets, and kilims. Turkish food vendors offer doner kebap, adana kebap, borek, baklava, dolmas, humus and many more dishes. Cultural displays and children's activities, as well as the TurkFest stage will delight attendees.

“We are proud to share the richness of this cultural mosaic through WorldFest, presenting Turkish culture, folk dance groups, artists and food,” says TurkFest producer and TURANT's past president Saduman Gurbuz. “This festival is strengthens harmony among civilizations through understanding and dialogue among different cultures. More than ever before we are interdependent and must seek new paths to communications.“

TurkFest is produced by TURANT and sponsored by the Turkish Cultural Foundation, Federation of Turkish American Associations, Turkish Airlines and Turkish Consul General of Turkey in Houston.
