Sorta to hold release party for new CD at House of Blues on Thursday
DALLAS On Thursday, Sorta is hosting a CD release party at the House of Blues Pontiac Garage, to launch its fifth full-length album, titled Sorta, with Buttercup and The O's.
The event is bittersweet, since this will not only mark the release of the album, but it will also be the band's last local show as a group. This story in PopMatters summarizes the churning the band has experienced since the death of Carter Albrecht, with Salim Nourallah quoted as saying that he thinks that Albrecht’s death "knocked the life out of Dallas music."
Albrecht's solo record is slated for released in 2009, followed by solo records from Sorta founders Danny Balis and Trey Johnson, session work from Ward Williams, and another Chris Holt/Slack CD.
Doors are at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10; it's $15 to get in.
