Dallas ISD TV show to get repeated screenings on KERA-13 over the next few days
DALLAS The Lone Star Emmy award-winning TV show School Zone Dallas will air on KERA-Channel 13 beginning Friday, October 24 at 5 p.m. Other broadcast times are Sunday, October 26 at 9:30 a.m., and Monday, October 27 at 7 a.m.
Hosted from J. P. Starks Elementary, an exemplary Dallas ISD school located in South Dallas, School Zone Dallas will feature stories about W. H. Adamson’s marching band as students prepare for an upcoming UIL competition; Victor H. Hexter Elementary where the entire school gets together in the name of fitness and literacy; and the talented bell choir at Jimmie Tyler Brashear Elementary.
Other stories include last spring’s performance of The Sound of Music at Woodrow Wilson High School; 48 6th graders from the W. B. Travis Talented and Gifted Academy who had the opportunity to attend a Russian language camp in Minnesota; and parents from Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School who volunteered their time to work on a project to beautify the school. This year’s keynote speaker at the Believe/Achieve Back-to-School Kickoff, Dalton Sherman, a fifth grader at Charles Rice Learning Center, is also featured.
This year’s cast includes co-hosts Niesha Smith, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; and Flaviano Graciano, W. T. White High School. Reporters on the program are Laura Cardona, W. H. Adamson; Stephanie Aguilera, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School; Olivia Fragoso, Law Magnet at Townview Center; Lorena Watson, David W. Carter; Bryce Romney, Woodrow Wilson; and Desmond Richardson, Humanities/Communications Magnet at Lincoln.
