Dallas ISD hires back 57 teachers who were recently laid off
DALLAS This came in as a press release:
As of [Tuesday], 57 teachers released as part of the recent reduction in force have been rehired by the Dallas Independent School District. The district’s Human Development office will continue to contact teachers who were released to notify them of additional positions as they become available.
This comes two weeks after the district laid off approximately 375 teachers and 152 support staffers (and a few days after the district announced it would be re-hiring 60). Do you get the impression that the district has some communication problems? Like maybe one hand is not talking to the other? Wonder how they chose the 57 to rehire. And how confusing would that be -- to get laid off and feel the usual stream of feelings where you start out feeling shell-shocked, then relieved and liberated, then overwhelmed -- what would you feel grateful?
