New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area stores: Doritos Taco flavor
For every discontinued item, there's a cult that misses it. Remember the big fuss when they pulled the plug on My So-Called Life? Anyway, if you do a search for Doritos Taco flavor, you'll see forums, petitions, and personal reveries about how freaking great these things were.
Well, as the package says, "They're back by popular demand." (How about that radical typeface.) Having sampled them, it's hard to fathom what the fuss is about; they taste just like any other of those weird fakey Doritos. It seems likely that nostalgia plays a heavy role in all of this, given the fact that Taco was one of the very first flavors of Doritos to be introduced beyond "plain" Doritos.
Anyway, am certainly not interested in ruining anyone's buzz here, if these things rock your boat, then woo-woo. Personally, I think the product that really needs to be revived is Team Flakes. Four grains in one? Discontinued in the early '90s? The greatest cereal ever manufactured? Anyone?

Not a fan of the Taco. Plus with the typeface, it looks like a serial killer wants me to eat the Taco.
They will never top Cool Ranch in the flavor department.

I dunno about Team Flakes. I really miss French's Italian Meatball Mix. Takes me back to my childhood, when we used to get it as a treat, instead of mock duck, on Wednesday's. Boy, how we would all ciao down on that stuff!
Think I'll do a remembrance blog post about it.

One of my most mourned lost products: Koogle. (But as long as Fritos and bean dip remain available, I'm pretty O.K. with the world.)

I Recall the old Frito and the Frito Lay building, and then came the Frito Bandido, while I also recall the DORITO..now that was somthing the Tracylocke Company may have come out in the 1960s, which was a toco frito, the rest is history and the millions made to fill that person's desire on the road or at the sport game...what next the Tondito....Alex Troup,... Don't knock the flavor expansion entirely. Spicy Nacho was one of the greatest leaps of faith ever, imo.
Hot Wings/Blue Cheese along with Salsa Verde are amazing, too.

Doritos Fiery Habanero is the greatest Dorito flavor, no question about it.

I was a huge fan of C.W. Post cereal, T.G., thought I did love Team and Rice Chex, too.
Sadly, C.W. Post was discontinued in 1992 or so.

Well I had some of the chip, it was all over my hands by the time I was done with it, in terms of bag consumption, and it would take a lot of goo to clean up my hands, while the chrunch was great, it is a buzz to eat, such formulated delight in the 21st Century....A.T... Junk Food Addict.

We've had the "limited time" Taco Doritos in our local stores...they are not the originals, don't even come close! They taste like a combo of that crappy taco supreme and those gross salsa verde chips!
Frito Lay says they are the "improved" taco flavor...but that doesn't cut the mustard in my book. When they charge $4 for a bag of chips, you at least expect them to be what the company touts them to be. Very disappointing.
