It’s hard to believe that Halloween isn’t even officially here yet, what with all the people putting up their Christmas trees already. So dress up yourself, dress up your dogs, pour Granny out of her urn and take her along in a Ziploc. It’s time for some ghoulish fun around the city and the more the scarier.
Gay Paree: NYLO-WEEN Party: Moulin Rouge
Friday, October 31, 10:00 p.m. Costume Contest
Put on your best Dead Nicole Kidman costume and head for Plano and the fabulous NYLO Hotel for a costume contest that’s definitely worth entering. The winning outfit receives airfare for two to Paris—Paris, FRANCE!
Cost: Free, NYLO Plano, 972-624-6990
Fuse And Far Between: Halloween Extravaganza
Friday, October 31, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Don’t feel like driving to Plano? Head downtown for a scary soiree on the rooftop deck at Fuse, featuring the biggest draw in town: 400 pounds of dry ice. Well, we guess that’s a big draw. It was featured on the press release ahead of eight-foot monsters. First place cash prize for best costume is a very cold, very hard $100 cash.
Cost: Free, Fuse, 214-742-FUSE
Black, Orange And Yellow: YELLOWEEN at Cork
Friday, October 31, 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
That wine-lover costume you’re wearing is fabulous, so put it to good use at Cork for an intimate Halloween gathering. Only 100 tickets are available for this exclusive gathering, and your paid entry gets you a glass of Veuve Clicquot, samples of three more exclusive Veuve Clicquot vintages, sushi rolls from The Fish, goodie bags and more. And, of course, there’s a costume contest that could net you your very own bottle of champagne, gift cards and more.
Cost: $50 per person, $85 per couple, 214-780-0373 for reservations (required). Cork
Dress Your Bitch Up: Katy Trail Dog Trot
Saturday, November 1, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Ten o’clock sounds awfully early after a night of trick-or-treating, but it’s worth it for the smiles on your dogs’ faces. Dress up your pooch for this walk that begins at the American Airlines Center entrance of the Katy Trail and travels 3K to Reverchon Park. Food and drinks for your dogs (and you) after the race, plus plenty of prizes and free goodies.
Entry Fee: $25, Katy Trail, American Airlines Center Entrance, 214-303-1180, register online at www.katytraildallas.org
All Hail The Scream Queen: Jamie Lee Curtis at Dallas Women’s Foundation Luncheon
Wednesday, November 5, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
It wouldn’t be Halloween without Jamie Lee Curtis, who comes to town to speak at a luncheon this week. So, will she talk about her career running from Michael Myers or the wonderful benefits of yogurt on her digestive system? We’re hoping for both!
Tables for 10 start at $1,500, call for details on individual ticket availability, Hilton Anatole, Trinity Hall, 214-965-9977, ext 103, www.dallaswomensfoundation.org
