The front of Carroll Senior High School has a new look thanks to the generous work of artist Mike Sullivan. Earlier this week, a 22 foot-wide mural was installed on the front of the campus building. This unique masterpiece embodies the spirit of the Carroll Dragons. The mural was donated by Sullivan, a famed artist who is known for his unique paintings, many of which are featured in venues and private collections around the world. Each piece of the Dragon mural includes hand-painted tiles with vibrant colors and dramatic lines. CSHS is the only high school recipient in a series of 25 murals Sullivan has done across the nation.

An official unveiling of the mural is planned for Friday, November 7 at 3 p.m. at CSHS. Following this event, an art show will take place in the Student Activity Center of the school. The show will feature original paintings from 14 countries. The show will run from 5 p.m. until midnight on Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, November 8 and from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 9.

CSHS will receive 20 percent of all proceeds earned during the weekend art show. Half will benefit the school’s art department with the other half donated to the campus.

The show is open to the public and will also feature an international collection of imported rugs. Professional framers will be on hand to stretch canvasses and frame paintings. The midnight extension of Friday’s show is to provide an opportunity for patrons to shop after the home football game at Dragon Stadium.

Below is a complete schedule of the weekend’s activities:

Friday, November 7

2 p.m.: A seminar will be held in the CSHS Student Activity Center for art students regarding the paintings that will be sold, stretching canvasses and framing techniques.

3 p.m.: A special ceremony will take place for the student body on the CSHS front lawn to unveil the art mural.

5 p.m. to midnight: Art and Rug Show in the CSHS Student Activity Center.
