— Gary Miller, Ryan Elementary principal, recently was named District 11 president-elect by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. He also was named second-term chair of the Advocacy Committee for the association.

Miller, who was named principal of Ryan Elementary in March, and his fellow officers from the 20 TEPSA districts across the state were installed at the association’s Leadership Conference earlier this summer. He previously chaired TEPSA’s Special Committee on Elections.

Prior to coming to Denton ISD for this school year, he was principal of North Riverside Elementary School for Keller Independent School. Miller has more than eight years experience as a principal and 13 years in elementary education.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s in education from the University of North Texas and a master’s of science degree from Oklahoma State University. He has his principal’s certification and is pursuing his doctorate at UNT.

TEPSA represents more than 5,800 elementary and middle school leaders and was created to improve children’s futures by bettering education at the elementary level.
