McKinney native Hunter Mahan named to Ryder Cup team
McKinney native Hunter Mahan was named Tuesday to represent the United States in the Ryder Cup.
Captain Paul Azinger named Mahan, Lewisville resident Chad Campbell, Steve Stricker and J.B. Holmes as the four captain's picks on the team that will compete against Europe later this month.
Eight other players were automatic qualifiers. They included Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim, Justin Leonard, Ben Curtis and Boo Weekley.
Campbell is a Ryder cup veteran, and will be playing on his third in a row.
The Ryder Cup will be played Sept. 19-21 at Valhalla in Louisville, Ky.
