McKinney ISD to hold Wellness Rally on September 27

The 3rd annual McKinney ISD Wellness Rally will be held at Towne Lake Park on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 9am-12pm. Join us as we kick off another year of Wellness education for McKinney ISD. The objective is to offer our McKinney students, staff and families various health screenings, education, activities to increase wellness, as well as identifying local health resources. The MISD Wellness Program Members are coming together with the community to share the knowledge and spread the word about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

We will have a “Main Stage” are where Program Members and area fitness enthusiasts will share their talents and have everyone join in the fun. Located throughout the park will be booths with community members who provide health/wellness/fitness services, information and/or goods.

The McKinney Fire Department will be on hand with their Safety trailer in support of our Risk Watch Safety Education Program.

There will be a sign in sheets available for all families to sign in. The school with the highest percentage of attendees will get a certificate to purchase supplies for their Wellness Program. The P E teachers will lead activities commonly used in the physical education class. The campus nurses and counselors will be available to answer any school related questions. The MISD School Nutrition personnel will be on hand with samples of healthy snacks on the school menus. Several of our district athletes and talented students will be on hand to help join in the fun!

We will have bottled water for all participants. There will be goodie bags with coupons and gifts from local vendors that we will give away.
