Man in wheelchair steals condoms and energy drink from Dallas 7-Eleven

A man in a wheelchair rolled into the 7-Eleven in the 8400 block of Park Lane on Wednesday at 2 a.m. with a bat and knife. After beating the cash register until it opened, he passed up taking money and stole 10 boxes of condoms and an energy drink instead. He then left as other customers in the store looked on, no doubt mouths agape.

Just because he's in a chair, doesn't mean he's crippled. I saw a street-guy one time in a wheelchair get out of the chair to pick up a cigarette butt from the curb. I'm sure being in the chair increased his panhandling capabilities.

Rick: Good point, I've seen hobos pull those kinds of stunts. Last time I went to Moscow, a blind woman was begging for change, so I tossed a ruble into her cup, only to watch her lift up her dark glasses, inspect the bill, and shoot me a dirty look.

But why would an able-bodied person take the wheelchair with them to rob a store? Unless there's a big downhill slope nearby, seems like it would hinder your getaway.

Pavel- Good question. I guess I haven't considered the idea of stealing condoms from a 7-11 in a wheelchair thoroughly.

I guess my point was you have to be cautious of anyone doing something stupid, even someone you think is dis-abled.
