To be honest, when I heard that The Edge was coming out with a second Edgefest this year, I was already set to hate it. The one in April headlined 3 Doors Down for crying out loud. But, and maybe I'm the only one, I dig (at least half of) the Edgefest 18 lineup.
Stage 1
- Stone Temple Pilots
- The Offspring
- Staind
- Toadies
- Papa Roach
- Seether
- Saving Abel
- Ashes Divide
- Safety Suit
- Drive A
Stage 2
- Rise Against
- Pennywise
- Alkaline Trio
- Hawthorne Heights
- Ludo
- Gaslight Anthem
- Emery
- Aranda
Admittedly, Stage 1 represents just about everything wrong with modern mainstream rock, with a few exceptions. But Stage 2 is reminiscent of a Warped Tour lineup back when someone my age could still recognize the band names. Alright, KDGE, one out of two stages ain't too bad.
Now, if Offspring would just avoid all the new songs and stick to Ixnay on the Hombre and earlier. Maybe bring back the dreads.
Edgefest 18 will be at Pizza Hut Park on October 25. Tickets go on sale Saturday, September 13, with an Edgehead presale from September 9-12.

You left the Offspring off the first list.
And I felt that Conspiracy of One was where the band hit bottom... and then rented a ditch-digger for Splinter. I haven't listened to "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace" because I'm 90% certain that they've probably hit a sewer line.

Ahh, thank you. I'm sure that was confusing.
I actually thought several songs on Ixnay on the Hombre were good. In fact, the song I have most wanted to see played live for years is "All I Want." After that, Americana came out and beyond "The Kids Aren't Alright," I just didn't have much respect for it. From there, I occasionally heard radio singles and had to change the channel. Sad.
Of course, "Bad Habit," off Smash, remains my favorite song to listen to while driving. I may just have to get tickets to this. The Offspring is the final band from my youth that I never got to see in concert.

snoozefest 2008. KDGE is everything that is wrong with modern mainstream rock. Pennywise should be ashamed of themselves for playing this.

Why cant we get an ACL-style festival at Fair Park or PHP instead during the springtime(Late April-Early May)? One w/ 2-3 days of sets with cool bands of all genres, not just the recycled 90's alt-rock/Emo crap KDGE has been floating in the Clear Channel era of the station. Id rather see a Del, The Funky Homosapian, Drive by Truckers and Plant/Krauss than the colon scrapings that are playing at Edgefest
