Four local bands and artists have made it to the third round of the ACL Festival "The Sound and the Jury" battle of the bands. This round is made up of 20 bands chosen by celebrity judges from the top 100 bands voted on in the first round.

Sound complicated? It is. So complicated in fact that you wonder what happened to some of the highest scoring bands from the first round who didn't quite make it past the "celebrity judges." Curious. In any case, without further adieu, the bands still in the running:

Unfortunately, none of the local contingent is in the top ten, with The Orange hanging onto 11th place about 700 votes behind Austin's Mingo Fishtrap. Only the top five make it to the next round. Third round voting ends this Friday, September 12.

*David Ramirez now lives in Tennessee but we'll claim him for as long as we possibly can.
