Rover Dramawerks will present the riotous comedy Shakespeare in Hollywood by Ken Ludwig at the Cox Building Playhouse. Performances are September 11 – October 4, 2008, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with an additional matinee performance on Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m.

It's 1934, and Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck (played by Shane Hamlin and Robin Coulonge), have magically materialized on the Warner Bros. Hollywood set of the lavish Max Reinhardt (played by Mark-Brian Sonna) film A Midsummer Night's Dream. Oberon finds love with Olivia, the leading lady (Julie Osborne), while Puck manages to misplace the famous feisty flower, wreaking havoc on the set! Everyone from heartthrob Dick Powell (Kevin Wickersham) to the famous censor Will Hays (Rick Dalton of Frisco) to iconic gossip columnist Louella Parsons (Patsy McGregor Sadowski) is attacked by the flower, and only Oberon can put things to rights.

Carol Rice, says:

As the director of this show, who after weeks of rehearsal STILL leaves every rehearsal weak from laughing so hard, I encourage everyone to come see Shakespeare in Hollywood. And for all you Shakespeare-phobes: I promise that you don't have to know anything about Shakespeare (or Hollywood, for that matter), to enjoy this show!
