NYLO announces call for entry for local art contest

0

NYLO Dallas / Las Colinas, the loft-lifestyle hotel brand's third location (second in Dallas / Fort Worth), announces a call for entry to its local art competition. In keeping with NYLO's attitude for innovation that promotes the imagination and passion of local artists, contest winners will have their work displayed throughout guest rooms, corridors and public spaces of the newest NYLO property, scheduled to open in May of 2009.

The competition, which will run through the end of October, is open to the North Texas public, including up-and-coming local artists and art students. Artwork should reflect local Texas culture, nightlife and urban or industrial elements and will help create the inspiration for NYLO Las Colinas as its own destination for visitors to the hotel. The contest will have two major categories under which art may be submitted: guest rooms and corridor artwork. Guest room artwork should be composed of acrylic, oil or mixed media. The corridor category is reserved for photography.

"NYLO got such a great response from the communities during our first two art competitions in Plano and Warwick, and we are excited to see the creativity and talent that the Las Colinas contest elicits," said Patrick O'Neil, executive vice president of operations for NYLO Hotels and general manager of NYLO Plano. "Each of NYLO's properties showcases its own artwork to represent the feel of the local community, and we look forward to the latest submissions that will distinguish the Las Colinas hotel nationally."

Prizes for the contest winners vary from $750 to $2,250 with the potential for NYLO to consider purchasing additional artwork outside of the designate prize values. Winning artwork also will be for sale in the hotel and on the NYLO Web site. As an additional way to support the local community, 90 percent of sales from artwork will go back to the artist and 10 percent to Habitat for Humanity.
