Students for a Democratic Society to protest in Denton over war
Members of the Denton chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and friends invite the public to join them in demanding an end to the illegal occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, promoting military counter-recruitment at the University of North Texas campus, and demanding a reinvestigation of events leading up to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The September 11 event will consist of a march through Denton which will end at the Denton Civic Center stage. Participants will meet at the corner of Fry Street and Hickory Street at 4:30 p.m. The march will begin at 5:00 p.m. At the Denton Civic Center stage, demonstrators will listen to various speakers, including Texas State Representative Lon Burnam, UNT anthropologist Dr. Beverly Davenport, UNT philosopher Keith Brown, and Ink Shop proprietor John Rhodes. Music will be provided by local artists 48 Trax and Dirty Hairy.
All who are gravely concerned over the dubious rationales for entering wars of aggression, the wholesale exploitation of our men and women in uniform for the advancement of U.S. corporate interests, and unanswered questions surrounding the tragic events of 9/11will want to attend this event.
