North Texas preparing for Hurricane Gustav Ike evacuees
The routine is similar to that of a week or so ago, though the hurricane and source of evacuees differ from before.
Ike is predicted to make landfall early Saturday morning along the central Texas coast. Currently a very large Category 2 hurricane, Ike is poised to gain momentum, becoming a "major" hurricane either today or Friday.
A number of counties along the coast are undergoing either mandatory or voluntary evacuations. In North Texas, evacuees coming via bus will first go through Mesquite where they'll be directed to various shelters around the area. The Dallas Convention Center can once again house up to 1,000 people, while Tarrant County estimates it can handle around 500 people.
North Texans can expect a heck of a lot of rain and wind on Saturday and Sunday as Ike curves its way through.
