Southlake Carroll officials torpedo Sweeney; green-light Footloose
Citing its "dark theme" involving the slitting of throats, school officials at Southlake's Carroll Senior High School have put the kibosh on a planned student production of Sweeney Todd.
Many students had already begun preparing to audition for roles in the really quite outstanding theatrical drama. Officials announced that they'd be approving the production of the far-less dark (and, coincidentally, far less outstanding) stage musical version of Footloose.
In a move designed to soften the blow, school officials approved the serving of meat pies and Kool-Aid during intermission.*
* This statement is patently false. (The meat pies will actually be served following the show.)
