Teacher will get her job at Dallas’ Kimball High School back, says state education commissioner
30-year classroom veteran Sharon Toussaint was terminated from her position as a math teacher at Dallas' Kimball High School under circumstances which led her to believe the firing stemmed from her rating on the Classroom Effectiveness Index (CEI) scale.
She appealed her firing to Texas Education Commissioner Robert Scott, and he has now ruled that her termination was improper, and ordered that she either be reinstated or paid one year's salary.
The Classroom Effectiveness Index ties teacher evaluation to student performance. And here's a shocking fact: some teachers don't like it.
