Irving Advisory Committee on Disabilities announces student poster contest
Any Irving-based fifth or sixth grade student - private, public or home-schooled - is eligible to enter the annual poster contest sponsored by the Irving Advisory Committee on Disabilities.
Kids will have a chance to exercise their artistic talents by designing a poster to express how a person with disabilities can use his or her existing abilities to be a part of the community.
Rules:
· Each student may submit only one entry.
· Artwork must be on construction paper or one half-sheet of poster board and may be in watercolor, pencil, pastels or crayon. The artwork should be no smaller than 8 x 10 inches, but no larger than 11 x 14 inches.
· Artwork must be prepared during the current school year.
· Each entry will be judged on the originality of the concept, and the content of how it relates to disabilities.
· Artwork must include the student’s name, age and name of the student’s school on the back of the poster.
· If requested, the poster will be returned to the student upon completion of awards.
Entries are being accepted through 5 p.m. on Sept. 26, and should be submitted to the Corporate Communications Dept., City of Irving, 825 W. Irving Blvd., 4th Floor. The first, second and third place winning entries will be posted at various locations around the city, including City Hall.
