Austin’s Micky and the Motorcars play the Palladium Ballroom on October 10
Road-tested alt-country five-piece band Micky and the Motorcars will play a show next month in Odessa of songs from its fourth album, NAIVE, which has climbed to #17 on the Americana radio airplay chart and whose first single remains for a third week at #4 on The Texas Music Chart.
Micky and the Motorcars will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday, October 10, at The Palladium Ballroom in South Dallas. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 7:30 p.m. Stoney LaRue and his band follow Micky.
NAIVE snared a "Hot Shot Debut" from Billboard magazine, hitting #43 on its Top Country Albums chart and at #27 on its Top Heatseekers chart. The album's first single, "Grow Old," reflects the influence on lead vocalist and principal songwriter Micky Braun (spelled with only a y, no e) of music pioneer Gram Parsons and his 1960s country-folk-rock days.
The added horsepower of hot guitar and hearty percussion brought by Kris Farrow on lead guitar, Mark McCoy on bass and drummer Shane Vannerson sweetens the heart-felt love songs, revs up hard-driven, hard-living road songs, and enriches Micky Braun's signature smoky vocals and Gary Braun's brotherly harmonies -- on the album and onstage.
"A polished, incredible record, the time and effort lent to this trip to the studio does not go unnoticed," said TexasMusicTimes.com. "The finished record is one of the best that will emerge this year. ... good rock 'n' roll with a very controlled edge continues throughout the album. ... Listening to the record, you'll hear a band at the very height of its game ... NAIVE ... is a record that will keep spinning around long after that first listen."
