Arlington League of Women Voters to hold candidate forums
Candidates in races for U.S. Representative, State Senator, and State Representative will be present.
On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, the Arlington League of Women Voters will host a Candidates Forum for local Federal and State contested races in the November 4th election. The forum will be held in the AISD Administration Building Board Room at 1203 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Questions for the candidates will be solicited from the audience.
U.S. Representative candidates District 6 (Joe Barton, Ludwig Otto and Max W. Koch III) are scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. Candidates for State Senator, District 9 (Chris Harris, Melvin Willms, and Carl Nulsen) are scheduled for 7:23 pm. And candidates for State Senator, District 10 (Kim Brimer, Wendy Davis and Richard Cross) are scheduled for 7:45 pm.
Candidates for State Representative, District 93 (Bill Burch, Paula Hightower Pierson and Colin Sewards) are scheduled for 8:07 pm; for State Representative, District 94 (Diane Patrick and Geoffrey Adams) at 8:26 pm; and for State Representative, District 96 (Bill Zedler, Chris Turner and Todd Litteken) at 8:45 pm.
The League will video the forum and DVDs will be available for purchase at $10.00 each. LWVA Director Barbara Prabhu will be the moderator.
The League is also producing a free VOTERS GUIDE that will be available on-line after October 10th at www.LWVArlington-tx.org.
The League of Women Voters of Arlington is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government of every citizen. The League does not support any political party or candidate, but does take positions on issues after study and consensus by its members.
