Cotton Bowl’s $57 million renovation to be unveiled

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (4)

In a move that kind of seems equivalent to putting lipstick on a pig, Cotton Bowl officials are set to unveil its $57 million renovation today.

Changes include the addition of a little more than 16,000 seats, bringing the capacity to 92,200 (which is strange math, since the City of Dallas website lists the previous capacity as 68,252). Also new are contiguous concourses around the stadium, renovated entryways that will alleviate the sardine effect, 25 new bathrooms, and more concession stands. And since the actual Cotton Bowl game will be moving to the new Cowboys stadium in January 2010, these renovations will now host a major game once a year with Texas-OU game (that is, if they decide to stay when their contract is up in 2015). On the plus side, the Cotton Bowl looks like an actual bowl now, so there's that.

Thats good and all, but we had our chance on making this pig look amazing, unfortunately, we had city leadership at the time who screwed us out of that. Another fine mess brought to you by former mayor Laura "Bitch" Miller

Whoop-de-freakin-do.

So now 92,200 people can go see...South by Southwest BFE State VS. Northern Podunk U in a meaningless regular season game.

Congrats Dallas!

Chrisdanger, don't forget several Council members who also would rather patch holes in the roof than to build a new stadium.

The DMN pretty much crucified me for even suggesting we tear it down.

John, im in agreement, we should've tore it down and rebuilt when we had the chance. But, you can thank the ship of fools known as the Dallas City Council and the mayors (in name only) office for hosing us over.
