Dallas-based RadioTime acquires RadioSherpa
DALLAS RadioTime, Inc., a developer of technology for finding and listening to radio online, today announced it has acquired RadioSherpa, which provides a real-time program guide for all HD radio stations in New York City, Boston and San Francisco. RadioTime will add this real-time information to its guide, and hopes to provide a quick and easy way to find radio content from thousands of stations airing local and syndicated music, talk and entertainment shows.
The acquisition of RadioSherpa will enable RadioTime to provide listeners with online access to the HD channels currently delivered by stations in three major markets.
“Listeners and device manufacturers value an electronic program guide that shows what’s available to them, because without that information, finding specific shows would be as difficult as finding specific television programs without the on-screen channel listings,” said Bill Moore, CEO, RadioTime. “An ever-growing number of listeners use the Internet as their primary radio tuner, so the radio industry needs to make all of its great music, news, sports and entertainment programming available online. RadioSherpa's real-time song identification technology further enhances the RadioTime user experience by enabling listeners to quickly find their favorite songs currently playing on any station.”
