Murphy boy’s death leads to recall of soccer goals
21-month-old Matthew Cantrell died after getting his head and arm stuck in an opening in the soccer net.
A recall of MacGregor and Mitre folding soccer goals was ordered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission Tuesday, almost a year after 21-month-old Matthew Cantrell of Murphy died from injuries related to getting his head and arm stuck in the net of the folding goal. The commission ruled that the openings in the net needed to be either much smaller or much bigger to prevent other such accidents.
