Photo Gallery: Nightwish at the Palladium Ballroom (September 16)

For the second time this year, Finland's Nightwish made a stop in Dallas at the Palladium Ballroom with openers and fellow countrymen Sonata Arctica.

Nightwish took the stage around 9:20 p.m. to deafening screams from quite a large crowd. Noticeably different was the fact that vocalist Anette Olzon is now sporting blond, shorter hair and this time around chose to wear a bright pink dress. She definitely stood out on-stage and rightfully so, as it is near impossible to take your eyes off her.

As was expected, they played a great set, with songs spanning most of their catalog, as the crowd chanted along. With a perfect mix of fast- and slow-paced songs, the evening seemed nicely balanced and you couldn't help but to be enchanted by the symphonic sounds that filled the venue. After a nearly one and half hour set, the band said goodbye and exited the stage. Nightwish are a must-see for anyone who appreciates European metal (or for those that want to hear something that doesn't sound like everything else) and I certainly look forward to the next visit.
