Ho, ho, ho! It’s Christmastime for the Dallas GLBT community, figuratively speaking of course. Dallas Pride Weekend means a schedule jam-packed with activities all over town and somewhere over the rainbow, so we’ve picked a select few can’t-miss options for gettin’ your drink on and celebrating diversity, too.
Boozin’ At The Bank: Wells Fargo Lemmon Avenue Grand Opening
Friday, September 19, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Tell your boss you’re “going to the bank” then deposit yourself at this grand opening event for the new Wells Fargo Bank (a financial institution that earned a perfect score of 100 on the HRC’s Corporoate Equality Index, we might add)! After the ribbon cutting at 11:00, stick around for free lunch from Uncle Julio’s or pop by at 4:00 p.m. for a wine tasting hosted by Grand Tastings. Fajitas and wine. Hmmm, sure as heck beats a toaster.
Wells Fargo, 4232 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas; (214) 780-1280; www.wellsfargo.com
Park And Pride: Celebrate Pride at Victory Park
Friday, September 19, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.
It’s always hot sunshine and lollipops at the parade, so nobody ever gets to see us in our really cute Pride outfits (you know, the ones that don’t have cut-outs in the butt). Well, now’s your chance to practice your Miranda Priestly lip pucker while watching a fashion show, sipping cocktails and crossing your fingers to win raffle prizes. It’s all happening at Victory Park and because we’re one of the event sponsors, you know it’s going to be a hot pink throw down!
The first 300 people get a fab swag bag, so it pays to show up early to this soiree. Make sure to RSVP to get on the list.
For the full Victory Park experience, check out the special Pride packages available at the W Dallas – Victory and drag the party into your room. (Just make sure to invite us!)
Victory Park (next to Luna de Noche); RSVP to RSVP.01521@whotels.com; www.whotels.com/pride for information on room packages
The Hippie, Hippie Shake: Love Child Gay Bingo
Saturday, September 20; Doors at 5:00 p.m., games start at 6:00 p.m.
Take a trip (and we do mean “trip”) back to the ‘60s for some shagtastic Gay Bingo action as we celebrate Pride Weekend and the Love Generation, all while playing for a chance at big money! Special guests include Daniel Lewis from Shear Genius, as well as Derrick and Romaine from Sirius Radio. Psychedelic!

Wire Hangers, Big Wigs: Sunset Movie Series at Central 214
Saturday, September 20 & Sunday, September 21, 8:00 p.m.
Join food and movie lovers for a relaxing evening in the courtyard at Central 214 inside Hotel Palomar for their new Fall Series of Sunset Movies. In honor of Pride Weekend, they will be screening Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on Saturday and Mommie Dearest on Sunday. Drinks and food based on each movie’s theme will be available to enhance the experience!

We Love A Parade: 25th Annual Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade
Sunday, September 21, 2:00 p.m.
Dust off the Freedom Rings and head to the biggest pride event of the year in Dallas. Join thousands of revelers at the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade on Cedar Springs Road, then follow the last bits of confetti and drag queen debris to the Festival at Lee Park for entertainment by Anton Shaw and her band, plus food, drinks and more glitter than a bedazzler set on autofire.
Parade Route Begins at Douglas Avenue @ Cedar Springs Road, Dallas; www.dallasprideparade.com
