Turns out the math wasn't nearly this difficult.

Did they say $64 million? Turns out the actual DISD budget shortfall was $84 million. Oopsy.

As many as 655 teachers and staffers would need to be laid off in order to pull the district out of the red. Official decisions have been tabled until next week, but deep cuts are still expected and likely soon, since the district currently has a $1 million per week operating budget.
