Dallas considering revamping Convention Center arena

Don't concentrate on the seating chart too much or you'll get vertigo.
Some Dallas City Council members would like to see improvements made to the Dallas Convention Center arena, a venue that has mostly fallen into disuse since the opening of Reunion Arena nearly 30 years ago.
Some envision it as a place that could draw mid-level acts that could fill its 10,000 or so seats, but who wouldn't draw enough to go to the American Airlines Center. I say live your pie-in-the-sky dreams, Dallas City Council -- it's only money.

I Recall when the Dallas Convention Center was built in the 1970s, by the old Houston street vaduct, that had held togther much of the area as a landmark dating back to 1912, now this area was not just a regular part of the old trinity as a flood plain, no this was once an old dumping ground, where trash would float down to the next town, dating back to the early 1860s when Dallas was a very proud village of 400 people, now I did find some 20 Dr Pepper bottles dating to around 1904 and worth around 400 dollars today found in this area of the old flood plain when construction took place in the 1970S.then around 1980 I went to Canton Texas,with a couple of artist freinds and we were sharing a booth set up, I layed down the 20 Dr Pepper bottles on the table, went to the bathroom and came back and they were all gone, my freind said to me this very good looking lady looked at these bottles, asked what they are worth and so i sold her all 20 for 10 bucks...isnt that great,...... I have to go back to the bathroom I am getting sick again, thus my adventures to the Convention Center had some kind of an impact after all of these years. Alexander Troup Historian.

BY the way, the old Convention Center site was in the 1890s a place called bois darc Island an old mooring point for boats and snag ships that came up the trinity, poor old mud hole and later flood plain,The Trinity could be a sewer or a servant and after having recoverd so many old bottles and crocks from the mooshine days.....you often wonder, should Dallas have any history or are we to live out our lives as a throw away culture or tamed to consume and then a polite throw away of things in this life time, Alexander Troup. Not far from the Convention Center site is a Hotel that the City of Dallas wants to build, which is a unique thing to do if you are a developer, when the city should be fixing up sidewalks and pot holes, they should stay low key on the Hotel business, any way the Hotel site is the once proud historical, with all intent,....wide acres of once upon a time Red light district own by Elizabeth Handley and Dan Sturat, the boxing promoter of Dallas in the 1880s, now this area was also a flood plain and many a good bed and brothel, not bed and breakfest was lost in the 1908 flood, washing down the Trinity , bedpost and napkins......oh well the Hotel on the Trinity, built on the old Red light district.....bedpans and condums....Alexander Troup Historian. p.s i have the documents to prove this and more....
