Farmers Branch proposes a community garden at Sept. 23 meeting
FARMERS BRANCH In an effort to invite the community to “break ground together” for a project that will provide for families and for the community at-large, the Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department, in association with Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, are holding an informational meeting on a proposed community garden on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at the church, 12411 Templeton Trail in Farmers Branch.
Farmers Branch Parks Landscape Manager Pam Smith said the meeting will afford the opportunity to learn what a community garden is and how local families, churches, civic organizations, youth groups, schools and clubs can get involved.
"This garden will encourage the building of a community that will come together to nurture the earth through sustainable gardening while growing healthy food for both the family and the community through Metrocrest Social Services," Ms. Smith explained.
The city of Farmers Branch will facilitate the project to be located on the church property. The site plan includes approximately 50 plots for adoption, a composting area and a community orchard.

FB has alot more problems than a community garden can fix..Most of that starts with a mentality of the area..

I personally saw it as a positive thing. The garden wasn't proposed as a panacea.
I think it's funny how many people have chosen to lampoon and condemn these folks that are just desparate to be taken off the hook to underwrite a failed national labor agenda of enforced hypocrisy. These less affluent suburbs supplement the metroplex's cheap lawn care and disposable construction labor and then get crap about it.
Weird planet.
