New fried item at State Fair of Texas supposedly looks like ipod
DALLAS Attendees at the State Fair of Texas will go wild for the Fried Apple iPie, a new deep-fried treat that looks just like a certain pocket-sized music player.
Mike and Jake Levy of Desperados Mexican Restaurant, creators of the Fried Cosmopolitan and last year's award-winning Deep-Fried Latte, will debut their latest fried concoction at the 2008 State Fair of Texas, Sept. 26-Oct. 19. The Desperados food booth is located on Nimitz Drive, across from the Dog Show and Pig Races.
The iPie combines a delicious fried apple pie rolled in cinnamon sugar on top of rich vanilla ice cream, accented with whipped cream and a brightly colored (and totally edible) sugar shape that is molded to look just like an iPod. Add real working, souvenir "earbud" earphones and the Fried Apple iPie experience is complete.
The Levy brothers' Deep-fried Latte was judged "Most Creative" in the State Fair's 2007 Big Tex Choice Awards and was featured on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Mike and Jake estimate they dished out about 10,000 at last year's fair.
