UPDATED: Flower Mound gorilla and the banana chasing him go to jail
Flower Mound Banana Chases Gorilla
Two students at Flower Mound High School played a little prank Friday at the football game. They ran across the football field dressed as a gorilla and a banana, with the banana chasing the gorilla. The students were quickly apprehended and face trespassing charges and reportedly spent the night in jail. And yes, the district is pressing charges. The nerve of those kids, disrupting a school sanctioned event like that. Someone could have gotten...umm... well run over by that banana, did you see the rage in those beady banana eyes? It's the parents fault you know for letting them run around with a sense of humor like that.
UPDATE: In a move that should come as no surprise, the Lewisville ISD has requested that the charges be dropped against the daring duo.

Dallas Spohn, says:
The sheriff or arresting officers didn't want to take the boys to jail. They tried to persuade the school to not press charges but the school officials did anyway. This stunt is done all over the country. Some people in any sort of authority position just want to be rectum irritations.

We're dealing with flower mound here, the same city thats ran like one giant HOA. Theres alot of anal retentives who live there that cant handle something like a HS prank. Im hoping these kids and their parents sue the hell out of the district :)

Not that there has to be in this country, chris, but on what grounds? Does the LISD have the right to press charges for trespassing? Yes -- there's a clearly posted sign. I agree that it's ridiculous to charge the kids, especially since police advised against it, but it's equally ridiculous to file a frivolous lawsuit against the district.

If I were those kids, I would frame whatever document I got stating that I got arrested and spent a night in jail for running across a field dressed as a gorilla / banana.

Alex, I agree that we are a sue-happy country and im normally against it, but in this case I believe the district should be made an example of. The LISD showed their ass in this situation and have already become a laughing stock locally and will soon be nationally.
The way I look at it is this: These kids were doing what most teens do, which is living life and acting dumb. But, compaired to what alot of other kids in their age range do, this is really not that bad, in fact I wish I had the stones at their age to pull something like this.

Good grief. Another thing I liked about my kids' private school: the administration had a sense of humor.
That was an excellent, perfectly harmless prank. The school administration should be held up to nationalwide ridicule.

Okay, watched the video. The news report is almost funnier than the prank. What's up with the Jackie Kennedy suit and pearls that spokesperson is wearing? I'd almost think it was a satire.

LISD has gone over the line. In my opinion, this event just shows what this district is all about, which is the area's house values. The LISD school board is no more than a political stepping stone to the people who hold this office. The zero tolerance policy is completely ineffective. This policy is teaching children to have a lack of compassion which is problem in today's society. These people seem to have no care for the students which can be seen in their budget priorities.

My experience in North Texas is that people in power, principles, school board members, coaches, etc, love to flaunt their power and bully people just because they can.
The principle at a Middle School, Lamar in Flower Mound, fired my wife for no good reason (that he was willing to share).
I hate this place and will be gone as soon as my son finishes High School...

Rawlins Gilliland, says:
They arrested that banana and gorilla because FOX 4 had erroneously reported that the banana was in fact a possible 'Al Queda recruit' cheerleader from The Colony named Tiffany Lawson and the gorilla was a 'suspected bomb maker' from Krum named Buster (last name withheld).
After an all night interrogation described by insiders as 'comprehensive and tense' by Valley Ranch FBI operatives in nearby Ponder, it was agreed that the two teens were 'potential terrorists' but no more likely to be a 'mortal danger' than 'random hoodlums you see at any suburban mall food court!
At news time, Ms. Lawson was said to have been released into her Mother's care after 'Buster' showed authorities that his 'bombs' were in fact 80s era Cabbage Patch Dolls that he 'lovingly' repaired into 'like-new condition' to distribute to disabled orphans.

I was there when it happened, it was hilarious and his parents let them do it. They knew that there were consequences. But Lisd is ridicoulous. LISD seems like a great district. IT IS NOT. This district has hidden problems that is only known by students and staff. Ex. drugs, TEACHERS SUCK (maybe 6-7 good teachers per school out of 150+). Admin is a bunch of old fat @$$'s sitting in chair. This district is way into the controlling the students and "safe educational enviornment bullst. I recomennd you move to Frisco ISD or Denton ISD.

LISD has been shown that they lacked sense and humor God gave the common hound dog on how they handled things. Alas, the zero tollerance culture has produced stupidity once again...
