Debbie Francis chairs the advisory board of the University of Texas at Dallas' Center for BrainHealth.
At the center's Legacy Awards dinner, held on Sept. 18 at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, Francis was presented with an award in honor of her vision and generosity in support of brain health research by none other than First Lady Laura Bush.
Francis is a long-time friend of the first lady. She (Francis) has served as chair of the Center for BrainHealth's advisory committee since 2005, and during her tenure the center has expanded into new digs, tripled its staff size, increased funding by a factor of seven and taken on 23 new research projects.
