Updated 12:26 p.m., March 19, 2009
Royse City, a town of 8,500 just northeast of Rockwall (a town of 34,000 a tad more northeast of Dallas), is in shock as one of its pastors is arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography. Rev. Steve Richardson, a pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Royse City, was apprehended on Wednesday, after which agents searched his home and seized his computer. During the investigation, agents will not comment on what they have found. First United has suspended Richardson.
UPDATE: Thursday morning former Pastor Richardson plead guilty to child pornography charges. According to officials, some of the child pornography on Richardson's computer were violent in nature. He will serve up to 30 years in prison and faces the possibility of lifetime supervision, and will have to register as a sex offender.
