Stephan Pyles to open new tapas restaurant in downtown Dallas
Stephan Pyles will open a second restaurant in downtown Dallas called Samar, says Joyce at Eats. The restaurant will open in spring 2009 at 2100 Ross Avenue with an "international tapas menu". The announcement was made by the people who lease the building.
They say that it's slightly "north" of Stephan Pyles the restaurant, located at 1807 Ross Avenue; but wouldn't that be "east"?
Samar is an island in the central Philippines, an area well known for its international tapas. Actually, I have no idea if that's true. But otherwise why would they name it Samar. I guess "International House of Tapas" was already taken.

I used to work for the building management at 2100 Ross, and my bet is that Samar will not push out La Madeleine on the south/San Jacinto side, for anyone who's wondering.
I remember seeing the renderings for an indoor/outdoor restaurant on the north side of the building, parallel to Ross. The current management office will relocate elsewhere in the building.
I am so pleased to see this come to fruition!
