Cedar Hill holding grand opening for new government center
The City of Cedar Hill and Cedar Hill Independent School District are holding the official grand opening and open house of the new government center tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. The opening ceremony will feature the Cedar Hill High School Band and the FORTE choir. In addition, the city will bury a time capsule. Can’t wait to see what could be in that.
The $26.3 million complex encloses 115,000 square feet and houses city administration and departmental offices, the Police Department and the administrative offices of the Cedar Hill Independent School District (CHISD).
Cedar Hill residents now have access to one-stop city, school and police services in a single, convenient location as well as meeting rooms and conference areas for neighborhood and civic groups. This collaboration is the first joint venture of this magnitude for municipalities in the state of Texas and resulted in savings of 20 percent in construction costs for Cedar Hill taxpayers.
Attendees will include Congressman Kenny Marchant, Mayor Rob Franke, and Dan Hernandez, president of the CHISD Board of Trustees. Additional parking is available across the street from the Government Center at the Cinemark.
