Keller ISD nominated for Lone Star Emmy
From the KISD Website:
The Keller ISD public service announcement “Education: Go Get It” has been nominated for a Lone Star EMMY. KISD Media Coordinator Matt Hill produced, directed and edited the piece and Media Technology Specialist Alan Farmer is credited for his camera and sound work. The PSA encourages students to see their education through to completion by reminding them the benefits of receiving a high school diploma.
"I am completely blown away by the nomination considering that we are being measured against the major TV markets in Texas,” Hill said.
“Education: Go Get It” is nominated in the Community/Public Service (PSA) – Single Spot/Campaign category and is up against two spots from WFAA Channel 8 and a piece from KDFW Channel 4. Spots from Allen City TV, KHCW Channel 39 in Houston, and College Station TV are also nominated in the category.
The Lone Star EMMY Awards are presented by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Founded in 1957, the NATAS is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry.
The 6th Annual Lone Star EMMY Awards Presentation will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston.

Without going into the usual debate about whether taxpayer funds should be used for something like this, I will say it was a very well done piece. Congrats to both Matt Hill and Alan Farmer for their fine work.
