FC Dallas signs Costa Rican midfielder Alvaro Sanchez

FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock today officially announced that the team has signed forward/midfielder Alvaro Sanchez on loan from AD San Carlos of Costa Rica’s Primera Division to complete the team’s 24-player roster. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sanchez will occupy a senior roster spot and be available for regular season selection upon receipt of his international transfer certificate.

The left-footed midfielder has scored 10 goals and added 14 assists in 44 appearances with San Carlos, where he has played since 2007. The 24-year-old has earned three caps with the Costa Rica national team, having recently made his debut in January 2009 in the UNCAF Nations Cup, where he finished the tournament tied for second with two goals. Sanchez spent the first week of March in preseason camp with FCD in Curitiba, Brazil, tallying one goal in two games.
