Lake Dallas seeking talent for its third annual American Idol-style July 4 competition

LAKE DALLAS — Lake Dallas is looking for talented singers who think they have what it takes be the next Lake Cities Idol. The Lake Cities Idol Competition, presented by Daniel's Air Inc., will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lake Cities 4th of July Celebration at Lake Dallas City Park.

Just like the ever-popular American Idol television series, Lake Cities Idol will have its own "Randy, Paula, and Simon" personalities who will be using their expertise in the music industry to give singers feedback after each performance. Contestants will be judged on stage presence, originality, musical ability and audience approval. Since the competition is open and free to the public, audience members will have a say in the competition by voting for their favorite performer.

The first place winner will receive $1,000 and recording studio time donated by Crystal Clear Studios, Inc., who will assist them in making their own professional demo CD. The grand prize winner will also receive free head shots courtesy of Crystal Clear Photography and the opportunity to perform during the headline entertainment on July 4th. Second place will be awarded $250 and third place $100. All winners will also receive free voice lessons courtesy of the D'Adamo School of Performing Arts as well as media attention including possible newspaper articles, television and/or radio spots. All awarded prize money is courtesy of Daniel's Air of Lake Dallas.

Any non-professional or amateur singer age 10 and older can enter. Those interested in being a Lake Cities Idol Contestant must submit a complete entry form and one CD or DVD demo recording of the singer performing the songs they wish to perform during the contest. Entry forms can be obtained from www.lakedallas.com/special_events.html or at Lake Dallas City Hall (212 Main Street).
