Coppell Earthfest photo coverage
What started out as a drizzly and chilly morning turned into a magnificently beautiful day for Coppell’s annual Earthfest (Saturday, April 4).
The sun was shining, burgers were cooking, and music filled the atmosphere. There were over 25 educational booths where citizens were able to learn about ways to conserve energy, see live snakes and turtles, discover where they can recycle their shoes, and how to use a rain barrel to water their lawn.
The City of Coppell had an area where residents could ask questions about code enforcement, trash collection, how to participate in Keep Coppell Beautiful and a booth that highlighted what the city does to help conserve energy and reduce emissions.
In addition to these phenomenal sections of the event, there were craft vendors selling items that stay true to the essence of “reducing, re-using and recycling” and an area for the kids that kept them smiling from ear to ear. Kids’ Planet gave the kids an opportunity to paint on the Monster Mural, make a necklace, paint a ladybug rock, weave a butterfly mat and put together other cool crafts that connected with the “green” theme.
Not only was the event a huge success, the drop-off area collected countless TV screens, computer monitors, bags of litter, items for donation at the Metrocrest booth, 4700 pounds of paper were brought by to be shredded and various other items to be recycled or re-used were left throughout the morning. All in all, Earthfest 2009 highlighted important information that enhances the health and beauty of our environment, as well as provided entertainment for all ages.
