There are actually a few opening receptions on Thursday that should be good. Art Conspiracy in the Making is opening at Cliff Cafe and 10% of all sales will go back to benefit Art Conspiracy. The Women's Museum is also opening Tall in the Saddle: Cowgirls, Ranch Women and Rodeo Gals, a photography series of women working on the range.
On Saturday there is a kids art festival at the Ice House Cultural Center with free art workshops. The activities are for ages 15 and under.
On Saturday night, ArtLoveMagic is holding another one of their events at Mokah Coffee Bar. Illuminate is a show themed around light and they will have artists painting under blacklights, live welding and fluorescent body paint. It will be quite the visual feast. The Art Hotel Gallery is also opening ’.Beautiful…Unapologetic…Selflessness.’ Saturday evening.
If you're just plain looking to check out an exhibit, Barbara Crane: Challenging Vision at the Amon Carter Museum is a good photography exhibit and it's free. You can double up and check out Art and Love in Renaissance Italy at the Kimbell as well (but that exhibit is not free). The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art also has some good exhibits, featuring snuff bottles, Japanese quilts and Chinese Tomb art.
