Give notice of leave early. Get $500 from Arlington ISD. Win.
More than 100 teachers have already given notice.
Arlington ISD is giving the first 200 teachers who give early notice of their intentions to leave before the 2009-10 school year $500. According to the district, it will be reshuffling teachers in order to make up for a $16.8 million budget shortfall. The program, which will cost around $100,000, is supposed to give district administrators more time to figure out who needs to go where and how many teachers will need to be hired (or not).
In what is surprising the district, more than 100 teachers have already given their notice, meaning they're halfway to the program's money limit.
So make sure to hurry up and quit, all you disaffected school teachers!
