Artistic Director Ben Stevenson is proud to present The Fly Ball, the largest single fundraising event of the year for Texas Ballet Theater on Saturday, April 18 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.

Originally created in an effort to raise funds and awareness with business men from the community, The Fly Ball was previously hosted by Phazar Aerocorp at Meacham International Airport. Guests were flown in from far-away locations and airplanes were the major theme for the evening. The first year was so successful that it became an annual event to raise money for Texas Ballet Theater.

This year’s event has moved to the Fort Worth Ballroom in the new Omni Fort Worth Hotel. The Fly Ball will be the first major event since the hotel’s Grand Opening and features a theme from France - La Vie En Rose. The event chairs are Laila Minder Gleason & Renée L. Walsh, with Honorary Chair Lyle Lovett.

“We are hosting a fabulous evening of fundraising with French flair,” stated Laila Minder Gleason. “We invite everyone to join us in celebration of Texas Ballet Theater and the amazing dancers in our company.”

“The power and grace of ballet is a tremendous source of inspiration and joy,” stated Renée Walsh. “In this harsh economic climate, we must not forget to support the arts in our community. Organizations like Texas Ballet Theater need financial assistance now more than ever before.”

The Fly Ball begins at 7:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction featuring over 75 items including jewelry, gift packages and other items. Dinner is an exquisite French cuisine catered by the Omni Hotel’s Executive Chef Michael Jackson. The live auction features big ticket items including a Chanel J12 watch, a replica Louis Vuitton trunk, a fabulous Italian dinner catered by Chef Alessio Franceschetti, and a trip to Rancho La Puerta spa in California. The evening’s entertainment is highlighted by slight-of-hand magicians, mimes, and casino-style gambling with all proceeds benefiting the ballet. Guests are also invited to dance to the music of “The Wonders” and “Johnny Reno and the Lounge Kings.”

Individual ticket prices start at $350 per person. Priority underwriting table sponsorships range from $5,000 to $100,000 and include generous benefits. For more information, visit www.texasballettheater.org or call 817-763-0207, ext. 107.
