Lakewood’s 1st & 10 takes over Bailey’s 1st & 10 space in Dallas’ Hillside Village

3

— Neighborhood fixture Bailey's 1st & 10 Sports Bar, which closed last November, has been re-opened by new owners as Lakewood's 1st & 10 Sports Bar (as noted by Nancy).

The new owners, a quintet of SMU grads, had a personal interest in seeing the place survive.

"We've all been patrons of the bar for quite some time, and that's why we got involved," says Mark Hajdu, who has been in the restaurant business in the past, but is primarily a real estate investor and developer.

They've kept the menu "pretty much the same" but have updated it, along with the space itself.

"We got all new TVs, we went in there and cleaned it good, and fixed up the kitchen," he says. "We upgraded the salad menu, changed some of our suppliers to improve the quality. The guacamole is better. The drinks are the same but we did upgrade our wine selection and have a significant number of imported beers, with six on tap, including four staples and two that we rotate according to season. But the chef is the same, and the burger is the same."

With the no smoking ordiance in place, bars like 1st and 10, which have a decent "bar food" menu, will be an enjoyable place to catch a quick meal, for many of us.

ronneleh, i'll make a joke and say that mockingbird/abrams became "Lake Highlands" about a minute after my addled brain decided to confuse "Lake Highlands" with "Hillside Village". you can see where i would mix that up since "Lake Highlands" sounds just like "Hillside Village", right??

anyway, very much appreciate your pointing this out (both the error and my mental decline) and it's now fixed (the error; no promises about the other thing)
